Listing Image Requirements
At Mercabl, we value transparency. For this reason, sellers must upload authentic photos of the actual products they are offering. Stock images and digital renderings are not allowed, except in specific situations outlined below.
Use Real Photos
Your listing photos should be authentic and accurately represent the finished product a buyer will receive. Whether you create, curate, or source the item, the photos must showcase the real product in its true condition, quantity, and quality. This ensures buyers can make informed decisions, strengthening trust within the marketplace.
Exceptions to Using Real Photos
We understand that certain circumstances may require the use of alternative images. The following exceptions apply:
- Personalized or Custom-Made Items
- Items Created with Production Partners
- If you design a physical product, like a book, garment, or furniture piece, and have it produced elsewhere, your images must display the actual finished product.
- If you create artwork or graphic designs that are printed onto base items (such as mugs, t-shirts, or tote bags), you may use mockup images to illustrate the final product buyers will receive.
- Non-visible items
If you sell items that are customized for buyers—such as custom artwork, engraved jewelry, or monogrammed apparel—your main listing image must feature a completed, personalized example of your work. This gives potential buyers a clear idea of what their custom order will look like.
Using blank product images or placeholder text (e.g., "Your Name Here") in the main image is not allowed. However, additional listing images may include mockups or digital previews to demonstrate customization options. If you wish to use a buyer's submitted review photo, you must first obtain their permission.
If your products are manufactured with the help of a production partner, the type of images you can use depends on the item:
For personalized items made by production partners, you must adhere to the customization guidelines mentioned earlier.
Some digital products and services may not be easily represented by a traditional photograph. In such cases, sellers can use illustrations that clearly convey the product's nature, its features, and the outcomes a buyer can expect from purchasing it. When possible, these illustrations should include a small preview of the digital files to be delivered.
To maintain a cohesive shopping experience, listing photos should align with Mercabl's overall aesthetic. This helps create a visually appealing marketplace that enhances buyer confidence. If a photo does not meet our marketplace standards, we may contact the seller to suggest revisions or updates.
By uploading an image, you confirm that you own the rights to the photo and that your listing follows our Intellectual Property Policy and Prohibited Items Policy.
At Mercabl, we are committed to a transparent shopping experience. Following these guidelines helps ensure a fair and trustworthy environment for both sellers and buyers. If you have any questions regarding image requirements, please refer to our Help Center for further assistance.
